> GETTING AROUND MELBOURNE
Planning a trip to melbs from sydney in early january, flights and accom are sorted but just wondering about the price of getting around on trams etc.
In syd its just an $8 day tripper for all public transport, does melboune have a similar thing, trams are completely foreign to me.
also any info about getting around to spots/ parks in the CBD would be appreciated
trams/trans use same tickets except on trams u gotta go on them the tram first and the machine is in them...
buy like a ten times daily or something dont know how much they are but save save save and in the city just skate everywhere or take the city loop tram which is free. but never take trains unless you have to coz trains suck
well if your gonna be around the city alot then trams/trains are probably your best bet
http://www.connexmelbourne.com.au/Metlink-Metcards
theres a link to our transportation company/people whatever
if your here for a week and will use the transportation alot in zone 1 then i'd get like a weekly ticket for $28.00
that ticket includes all public transport in zone 1 if your looking at going into outer suburbs n shit then you need to get a zone 1+ 2 fare
just visit that website i linked you to.
oh and if your using a tram they only have coin operated machines so try and buy your ticket beforehand from one of the signed outlets or the metlink shop on swanston street.
trains and a board will put you within reach of almost anything of interest so your set with a weekly ticket, even if you wanna go zone 2 just say ur a foreigner or something and fucked it up
you dont really need to buy a tickect for trams because you can just hop on and off them freely
"you dont really need to buy a tickect for trams because you can just hop on and off them freely"
baha, don't listen to this guy. we got these sneaky fuckin ticket inspectors who normally don't wear uniform and just pop out of no where, its worth paying $3.50 for a daily than paying $160 dollar fine
Ok here is a list for ya.
Fitzroy bowl (112 tram get off at the big park.....perfect first stop and Fitzroy is a rad suburb)
Citypark (flinders st station)
Frankston (Same name train station)
Clifton hill (Same name train station)
Northcote Bowl (86 tram)
Box hill park (cannot remember train station)
Geelong waterfront (same name train station)
Coburg (batman train station....gnarly though!)
Ones you need to get a ride to but are amazing....
Knox
Deer Park
Meadow Hieghts
Werribee
ocean grove
Hope this helps. Start at Fitzy and you can't go wrong. Plenty of friendly locals and wierdo lurkers.
Yep.. Get a weekly the first thing you do, will save you time, money and hassles.
